A LITTLE CATCH UP

Overwhelmed would be the word of the month for us. Actually, the last 3 months, maybe year? A mix of wanting to get everything moving to wanting to hide under our bed. Everything is working it’s way out, but I swear it’s bump after bump. Here’s a little recap!
Last Minute Honeymoon
The countdown is really on to get things done, everyday it feels like we are running out of time. So why not add a little last minute travel in the mix! After our wedding we decided last minute to hop on a plane and fly to Vancouver. When I say last minute I mean last minute. Flights booked at 10 am, on a plane at 6pm. All of the rushing was more than worth it as we finally got to meet our nephew Max after 16 months. It was even better than we could have ever imagined. I cried as we walked our way up from our hotel to meet him, trying to pull it together so I didn’t scare him. It didn’t work. We walked and walked, ate and ate. It was the perfect little getaway.
Back to the farm
We returned to very quickly needing to make the decision of how and what we were doing with our fields. Quickly, isn’t even the right word. We had about 48 hours to plan and make a huge financial investment of what we wanted to be planted. We decided on a mixture of grasses and legumes that will eventually be our pastures and hay. I can hear the cows and horses calling my name. As you know I grew up on this farm, but wasn’t involved in any purchasing or any financial aspects. Let me tell you…this s*#t is exxxpensive. Next level, blow your socks off expensive. I have always had a true appreciation of the farm life, but it has now been upped to another level.
The flower gardens are still growing and if you didn’t know already we got 43 chickens the week before our wedding, because why not? They are all doing well, well except for Wayne, who is out hurt chicken I talk about on Instagram. But he is doing better everyday.
Up next?
Planting all our spring bulbs for our 2022 Pick Your Own flowers. Perhaps we have a couple things to do before they arrive, like mow, make flower beds…causal stuff.
Placing orders for our other 2022 garden plans, so many decisions when all I really want to do is buy a horse too.
Ordering more shrubs and bushes for our landscaping plans. Thank you Horlings Garden Center for all the support and help!
Designing our new garden, hosting Hudson’s Flower Stand, putting up fence, building gates, trying to stay alive! I keep saying that I’m going to slow down. Stop adding things to my plate, but here I am making plans on top of plans, so that when one thing is done there are at least four other things waiting for me. We will keep you posted on all things as usual.
Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram for your daily dose of our little farm life.
Happy Fall Y’all ( I live on a farm I can say Y’all now. Right?)
Love,
