IF NOTHING ELSE AT LEAST WE'RE COMMITTED

Most Recent / April 8th, 2023

8:38 pm, Saturday night, all ready for bed and for Real Housewives of Miami. Internal Dialogue: You haven't written this week’s blog post.

But I made a commitment to myself, blah, blah blah... but I really did, and it turns out there is something I want to talk about. I call it the one days and the someday. It's the ideas we have, the dreams that we are waiting for the perfect time to dive in. The perfect time. What does that even mean?  How many people die still waiting for that perfect time to try their hand at something they have always wanted. This week I was again reminded of how quickly life passes by and the how precious time truly is.

We have one days and some days because it isn't always possible to just dive right in. Financial constraints, time obligations there are many valid reasons that we can't just up and follow a dream. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't have them.

I refuse to die without putting everything I can into the time that I have. I choose to be silly, ridiculous even, to eat dessert for breakfast, put myself out there, write blog posts on Saturday nights when I want to be watching tv, but I'm not giving up on what I want. A lot of doing what I must do, to get to do more of what I want to do.

So, what is it that we want?

We want to know that we did what we could with what we had.  That we were present in our lives chasing the one days and some days until we are living it daily.

There was a time I dreamt of all that I have now. There are still many days that I can’t believe that I got to marry Connor. That's a whole other story maybe for another time. But I do feel like I already live a bit of a fairy tale.

Now our one days and someday are Connor and I farming together 365 days a year. Being home as much as possible for our children. Sharing our farm with our community.

And I can assure you we have been told many times that there is no money in farming and in every other way that someone can tell you that your dream is not possible without coming right out and saying it. But what I know is that if nothing else at least we’re committed.
