IT'S BEEN A WEEK

Most Recent / April 30th, 2023

As a lover of rain, you may be surprised to hear that today’s dreary weather is not for me.

It's been a real week, with some really high-highs and some crappy lows.

I don't feel any desire to recap many of the lows as I shared the Coles notes version on our Instagram story all week. But it goes like this.

Plumbing issue, directly into strep throat, sleep regression.

So, maybe you're wondering if this post is going to add to your own blahs of the weekend and be a final big downer of a dark, gloomy weekend. But it’s not. For one, it isn't my nature to stay stuck down for long and most of this I wrote the other day when I was feeling oh so, grateful albeit very overwhelmed.

But before we get to that I want to share in my online diary some things I never want to forget. Like singing Connor happy birthday every time we ate cupcakes. Which was definitely more than once. The elation we felt when our plumbing issue wasn't a serious one and quickly resolved. Being able to call our friends and have them help us in that moment of plumbing panic. Our grocery shop at Whole Foods. What a dream. Our newest heifer calf Anna arriving safely and surprisingly into the world while we were away. Our first mobile flower bar with the loveliest group of people. And my big writing inspiration of the week is our adventure to Toronto. I wrote this as we drove along the 407.  We hope you enjoy.

A highway of memories

The 407 holds many fond memories for me. Traveling along it more times than I can count to lacrosse tryouts and weekend camps when I played on team Canada. Then again for years from home to my university just across the US border. So, perhaps this highway is the perfect setting for my next tale.

I love how Instagram archives our old stories. They seem to pop up just when you need them. This weekwe shared in our stories our April 26th photo from 2022. A picture and the date of our first flower farm flower.Sometimes it’s difficult to remember how far you have come. All the obstacles that you have faced. The ones that made you rethink your trajectory, the ones that went right, the surprises that keep you on your toes when you think you know. Now here we are, off on an adventure today because of a direction you swore up and down that you would never do.Weddings + EventsI swore that there was no way, no how that would be something we would ever dream of doing. Now here we are travelling along the 407 to our first wholesale flower pickup.Maybe you’re wondering, but Harrison-Hill Farm you grow your own flowers. And we sure do, but sometimes someone else in your province has the greenhouse you don't or from a different growing zone and they have something you don’t when you need it most.We are evolving, learning and thank goodness growing in so many more ways than one.Fortunate to have a partner in it all, that quite literally takes my hand when I am feeling overwhelmed by the newness of it all.Thankful to all that put their faith in us to deliver for their extra special life moments. To our local florists who purchase our flowers. What an absolute pleasure to contribute to our local flower world.

When it comes right down to it, we are overwhelmed more often than not, but we are forever grateful for the opportunity to even try to make a life on the land we love.

Our unrelenting appreciation for all your support and encouragement along the way.
